Shortlisted for International Awards

The Solar Gate project has been nominated and shortlisted for two awards by the Institution of Structural Engineers' Structural Awards 2018.

According to a source at istructe, the standard of entries this year was very high, so to be shortlisted for two awards is a huge achievement.

The first category the 10m tall structure has been nominated for is 'Small Projects Under £1m'. According to istructe.org, this category is "Awarded for excellence in the structural design of projects with a construction cost of less than one million pounds, including art structures and sculptures".

The second category is 'Structural Artistry' and is "Awarded for projects in which what could otherwise have been an adequate and worthy solution has been transformed by the vision and skill of the structural engineer into something exceptional".
